59 - A Little Good Thing --- Una Cosa Pequeñita

A Little Good Thing

I opened my window towards the sky
the Sun hid behind the dream catcher
the books aligned together in harmony
the lamp whipped itself clean
the piano started playing my favorite song
and I started singing and dancing and laughing
because I was finally brave enough to open my window
and it had been good

Una Cosa Pequeñita

abrí mi ventana hacia el cielo
el sol se escondió detrás del colador de sueños
los libros se alinearon armónicamente
la lámpara se quitó ella misma el polvo
el piano empezó a tocar mi canción favorita
y yo empecé a reir y danzar y cantar
porque finalmente tuve el valor necesario
para abrir de par en par mi ventana
y había sido algo bueno

58 - Towards The Sun --- Hacia El Sol

Towards The Sun

Against all odds,
I believe that all the time
that you were busy lying to me
I was busy, too,
making you believe
that I ever believed in you.
Now we both lie here
our backs against the fresh grass,
our faces towards the Sun,
and there's nothing we can do
but tell each other the truth
once and for all.
I'm just waiting for you to begin.

Hacia El Sol

A pesar de todo
creo que todo el tiempo
que ocupaste en mentirme
yo también estaba empeñada
en hacerte creer que creí en tí.
Ahora los dos estamos aqui
rescostados sobre la hierba fresca,
con nuestros rostros al sol,
y no hay más que hacer
sino decirnos finalmente la verdad,
de una vez y por todas.
Sólo espero que quieras comenzar.

57 - Know --- Saber

Know

Who would tell the prophets
if they're right or wrong?
If the world ends up tomorrow
how would we know?

Sometimes I ask the days
go by and grow old enough
to tell me where i'm going
but they keep their mouths shut.

I'm thirsty, don't you see me?
Please give me something sweet
and let the prophets and the days
remain in mystery.

Saber

Quién le dirá a los profetas
si están en lo correcto?
Si el mundo acabase mañana,
cómo lo sabríamos?
A veces los días,
que envejecen y se alejan
me dejan sin respuestas
a las preguntas que les hago.
Estoy sedienta, no me ves?
Dame algo de beber, algo dulce,
y dejemos a los profetas y los días
dormir en sus misterios
una vez más
y como siempre.

56 - Brief --- Breve

Brief

There's nothing but pain
in this head of mine,
troubled by the lack of sleep
and the brief time I have left
to do all I want to do,
as life escapes quickly
with the watch's tic-toc.

Breve

No hay sino dolor
en esta cabeza mia,
ocupada con la falta de sueño
y el poco tiempo que me queda
para hacer las cosas que deseo,
porque la vida escapa presurosa
con el tic-tac del reloj.

55 - Remembrance --- Recuerdo

Remembrance

I lost your eyes forever
a gray morning in March.
You said your farewells without explanations
and walked the way opposed to mine
with my bracelet anchored to your wrist
leaving in my closed fist your brooch.
And then you left, for real, seriously,
and I never saw you fix your glasses
that were always falling down,
and we never sat together again
under the yellow bell flowers gazebo
in the school backyard.
The bus trips became empty.
The letter didn't find  their way to me
and it was never you when the phone rang
but I waited patiently
till the wait became oblivion.
Today, looking into the past with nostalgia,
your image surfaces with the strength of old times
while in here I still squeeze in my fist your brooch,
like that day that you left me
to go where I couldn't follow you
and from where I now write for you
broken in time and distance.

Recuerdo

53 - Comet --- Cometa

A Poem For Argénida Romero
Comet

The golden lights shine
twinkling with caution
over her peachy chest,
under her blouse made of snow,
this one strongly attached
to the rest of her.
She stands there, naive,
holding, as if her life depended on it,
onto her silver comet tail,
standing out from the multitude
with an aura of erotic innocence
dimming any fluorescence
that doesn't come from withing herself.
And then, the doors open,
letting her go away
flying above the multitude,
gliding over the ground
and far into her own glare.

Poema para Argénida Romero
Cometa

Las luces doradas brillan
parpadeando con precaución
sobre sus pechos de durazno,
debajo de su blusa de nieve
que se agarra fuertemente
al resto del todo que es ella.
Ahí está, ingenua,
agarrándose,
como si su vida dependiera de ello,
a la cola plateada de un cometa,
distiguéndose entre la multitud
con un aura de inocencia erótica
que opaca cualquier fluorescencia
que no salga de ella misma.
Y entonces, las puertas se abren,
dejándola salir
volando por encima de la multitud,
flotando sobre el suelo
y lejos, hacia su propia luminiscencia.
